The problem

Your home is smart. But can you actually understand it?

Most houses today end up with:

1

one app for the solar inverter

2

another app for the air conditioner

3

a third app for the cameras

4

a fourth app for the irrigation…

The result: scattered control, missed alerts, wasted energy and devices that do not “talk” to each other.

A smart home is not more apps. A smart home is one.

Energy

Produce, store, save

A visual flow of production → battery → grid → consumption. PV power with daily, monthly and yearly totals. Battery: charge, charging and discharging, emergency reserve.

  • Boiler and heat pump with solar priority
  • History and reports: days, weeks, months, years
  • The sun is strong — the boiler switches on by itself
  • The battery is low — non-essential loads wait

Smart optimisation with clear boundaries — and manual override always available.

Import from grid

The battery's emergency reserve has absolute priority: below it the heat pump and the boiler wait, to avoid deep discharge. The balance is computed on the server in real time — without cloud.

Comfort

Warm when you need it. Economical and automated by priority.

One command can change the whole house — tap “Away” and the home automates itself.

Home

Comfortable temperatures, lights on, boiler at full power.

Active

Away

Energy saving, alarm armed, idle loads switched off.

Night

Scenarios

A home that understands what you want

One system of smart rules: trigger → conditions → exceptions → action. The rules live on the server in the LAN and work even when no screen is on. The system explains why it executed or skipped every rule.

Presence simulation, saving mode, leak watch

No programming required

Rules are assembled visually — when → if → then. You can pause any rule, and the journal shows every execution with its reason.

Security

Peace of mind, even when you are not home

The server decides who can do what. Critical actions require confirmation, and every login and action in the system is written to the journal.

Cameras

Live view, multi-camera wall and event timeline on one screen.

Alarm

Modes (off / home / away), sensors and a full event history.

Access

Doors, locks, garage and gate in one place — with confirmation.

Hazards

Smoke, CO, gas, water leak and freeze alerts, 24/7.

Profiles

Administrator, Household and Guest — each with their own rights.

Notifications

Critical events are announced on every screen in the house.

Architecture

One server. One interface. One home.

A Local-First philosophy: the bridge is the server. The logic, the data and the permissions live on the LAN — not in the cloud and not in the browser — and the interface is completely separate from the device layer.

Client screens

Tablet, phone, wall panel, computer — one and the same interface

HTTP + SSE

Bridge (the server)

A Node on your LAN — authentication, rules, history, profiles. Works even with no screen on

MQTT / devices

One topic contract — home/v1 — regardless of the manufacturer

One shared brain

Rules, modes, history and permissions live on the server — they work even when nobody is looking at a screen.

The server is the gate

Every command passes through the bridge: it checks rights, confirms critical actions and writes the audit log.

No radio inside the platform

Zigbee, BLE and Wi-Fi devices come in through a gateway to MQTT. The platform speaks a single language.

Comparison

How it differs from the alternatives

Cloud ecosystems are simple but depend on the internet and lock your devices in. DIY platforms are flexible but need hands-on tinkering and come without support. HoumeOS combines local-first control with a professional installation.

How we work

From the request to a working smart home

We are ready to respond quickly to your request for home automation. Every project is tailored to your needs, equipment and goals. We follow a clear, proven process that gives you predictable results and transparency at every step.

  1. 01

    Analysis and design

We start with a site survey and a conversation about the equipment you have (solar system, battery, heat pump, cameras, air conditioning) and what you want to achieve. On that basis we prepare a working project with the scenarios, automations and integrations.

  2. 02

    Platform setup

We configure HoumeOS for your home: devices, screens, modes, automations, user profiles, roles and access rights. Before installation we check the scenarios in simulation mode, with no hardware needed.

  3. 03

    Delivery and installation

We connect the devices to the platform through the appropriate gateways and protocols, bring up the system on a tablet, wall panel or phone, and verify everything on site.

  4. 04

    Training and onboarding

We show you how to use the system, how to manage the home modes, and how to read the history and the reports.

  5. 05

    Support and growth

After launch we are available for technical help, settings and upgrades. The platform grows with your home: new devices and features are added without reworking what already exists.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Short and clear about energy, automations, security and compatibility. Can't find the answer — just ask us directly.

What is HoumeOS?

HoumeOS is a local-first smart home platform that unifies monitoring, control and automation of energy, climate, irrigation and security on one screen — regardless of the sensor or equipment manufacturer.

Does HoumeOS work without internet and without cloud?

Yes. Rules, modes and control run on a server inside your local network (LAN) and keep working even during a full internet outage. HoumeOS has no cloud dependency.

Where is my data stored?

Entirely locally, on the server in your LAN. There is no cloud account — telemetry, histories and profiles never leave your local network.

How do I control the whole house from one screen?

With a single interface — a dashboard with large, readable buttons for lighting, climate, blinds, doors, irrigation, energy and scenarios. It works as a wall panel, tablet, kiosk, or on your phone and computer.

Which devices and protocols are supported?

Solar inverters and batteries, heat pumps, boilers, water heaters, air conditioners, lighting, blinds, cameras, locks, EV chargers and irrigation systems. They connect over MQTT, Matter, Zigbee, Z-Wave, KNX, Modbus, 1-Wire, BACnet, ONVIF/RTSP, OCPP, REST and Bluetooth LE.

How do I connect different brands in one system?

Through a unified device model and standard gateways to MQTT. A new manufacturer is added with a driver, without rebuilding the other screens — that is what makes HoumeOS a universal platform for smart devices of all brands.

How do I use solar surplus for hot water?

On surplus, energy is distributed by priority: it first charges the battery, then heats the boiler (given enough charge and solar priority enabled), and only the remainder is exported to the grid — so you use more of your own PV energy and lower your bill.

How is the history and the consumption reporting kept?

The history lives locally on the server: 7 days of raw samples, 31 days of event log and 13 months of aggregated data — with charts and reports by day, week, month and year. The data survives a sudden power cut.

What hardware do I need?

A small LAN server (the bridge) and any screen you already have — a wall panel, tablet, phone or computer. Radio devices (Zigbee, BLE and others) connect through a standard gateway to MQTT.
