The HoumeOS roadmap: what is ready and what is coming
We say clearly what works today and what is planned. Ready are the eight-screen kiosk, the automations, the histories, the roles and the simulation. Coming are a real MQTT broker, notifications, a visual editor and camera and EV integrations.
Nothing is more disappointing than a system that promises everything in words and delivers half in practice. That is why this roadmap is split strictly into ready and coming. The modular architecture means every new feature is an addition, not a rework.
Works today
- An eight-screen kiosk: Home, Energy, Climate, Irrigation, Security, Scenarios, Devices, History. (The shipped interface is currently in Bulgarian.)
- A real connection to devices through a LAN bridge (HTTP + SSE), with a ready MQTT contract.
- Server-side automations — conditions, exclusions, schedules and a "why" explanation.
- Global modes — Home, Away, Night and Holiday with a ready set of actions.
- History and reports — 7 days of samples, 31 days of log, 13 months of aggregations.
- Profiles, roles and rights with protection of critical actions (confirmation).
- Simulation — a full demonstration and testing without hardware.
- An offline shell — the interface comes from cache, the device numbers never.
Next steps (soon)
- Notifications to the phone — critical alarms and reports.
- A real MQTT broker and the first devices connected through it.
- Zigbee and BLE devices via a gateway/coordinator.
- A visual editor for the rules in the kiosk.
Further out and the vision
The expansion includes a hardware integration panel (wired, Wi-Fi, radio, cloud API), cameras and recording (NVR), access control with temporary codes, and leak detection. The vision is broader: an interactive floor plan of the home, a voice assistant, costs and tariffs, predictive maintenance, electric vehicles (OCPP) and management of several properties.
Why this split matters
Features marked "coming" are not ready and should not be presented as available. If your choice depends on a specific integration — for example a real MQTT broker or cameras — ask directly about the current status. More on the architecture behind this: What is Local-First and What is MQTT.
